Learning environment
The era before IT revolution
- There were no video games etc.
- Children created Thinking-skill outside school through plenty of playing around nature and worked things out through common sense.
- Through such daily life, children grew Thinking-skill by themselves.
Present day
- Such circumstance has been lost.
- Children are addicted to video games, SNS...etc.
- If a desirable circumstance is not set up on purpose, it is very difficult for children to promote Thinking-skill.
- The conventional methodology is becoming old fashioned.
- Children are needed to memorise knowledge and do long simple tasks.
- School has never taught the skill of thinking to children.
- Children's life inside school and outside school are barely balanced.
What we have to do?
- We have to:
- have children to practice Visualising and Moving-images intentionally.
- give children chances for developing Thinking-skill.
Road map
MUST NOT start QMC until 5 years old
The most important thing is playing outside
- The real experiences become the foundation of Visualising.
- The priorities:
- Storing images in the brain through experiences with nature - Nothing exists better than nature for children to stimulate the brain.
- Enjoying and tasting daily life.
- The priorities:
- Children need to feel nature to input correct information.
- For example, to feel the speed and the movement of:
- the wind, swinging trees and falling leaves.
- the wave in the sea,the cloud in the sky...
- For example, to feel the speed and the movement of:
- Video games and TV must be restricted.
- Please refer to
- Early stage learning must be restricted.
- You must not :
- cram lots of knowledge into your child.
- force your child to study lots of pattern recognitions... etc.
- You must not :
MUST start QMC at age 5
Set up the learning environment
- If you haven't known QMC before
- "Reset" would be your child's first step towards success.
- The definition of "Reset"
- To allow your child to feel less stress
- To take your child's wrong tempo back to original
- What is required:
- Forget about homework, lessons and tutors which cause stress on your child.
- Your child must not do any work and have fun (No gaming or watching TV) for approximately 2 weeks.
- Parents have to do your child's homework as needed.
- Parents observe your child carefully.
- Don't fit your tempo with your child
- Then you will find your child's original tempo.
- After "Reset"
- Parents have to keep:
- your child's original tempo.
- doing your child's homework as needed.
- During parents are doing homework, your child does:
- what he/she wants to do.
- our high quality maths problem solving.
- Parents have to keep:
I guess you may feel "Stop homework? Are you joking?"
- I'm NOT joking, please see the following Q&A.
- Q. Has homework which is given to your child by a teacher been carefully selected?
- A. Of course not, I have not yet seen quality homework before.
- Q. Have teachers checked its quality and quantity?
- A. Quality and quantity is most certainly not checked. From my point of view, that is least of their worries.
- Q. Have you ever done your child's homework before?
- A. Probably not.
- If your child has homework, parents should complete the work earlier than children, no matter what. The Time created whilst you do the homework should be used efficiently for the development of Thinking-skill.
Start QMC
The rules which must be understood by parents/guardian.
- 1) The Question must only be read ONCE.
- "Read it over" is the worst advice. Supervisors should initiate the child to draw pictures and take it slow and steady.
- Infants and younger children may seek help to read the question.
- Patience is the key; it may take a while before your child starts drawing.
- 2) If a problem is too difficult for your child...
- Attempt on a different problem and keep the question tucked away and try it again in a later stage.
- 3) A rubber is not allowed.
- It is important for you to trace how your child thought.
- A line should be drawn through the mistake.
- 4) It is important to draw pictures, even if your child finds the answer before he/she starts drawing.
- It is a practice in Visualising.
- If the habit of drawing is not stressed, you're child would not do well when a problem is complex.
- "Enjoy drawing pictures" helps growing Thinking-skill.
- 5) It is necessary to think by using own pictures.
- It is a practice in Moving-images.
- Your child should not see the sentences after drawing pictures.
- 6) Questions are well thought out which may possibly result for he/she to draw out the question again.
QMC should be carried on until 12 years old
- You have to maintain a suitable environment.
- An environment has to be fit to your child.
- You must not fit your child into an environment.
Target table by year range
0 to 3 years old
- To grow the feeling of :
- pleasure, happiness etc
- satisfaction
3 to 6 years old
- To develop the feeling of :
- understanding and acceptance
- Emotions :
- Joy and Anger
- It is a reflective response.
- It is relatively easy for children to figure out the two emotions.
- Sorrow and Enjoyment
- It is not easy for children to get it.
- To keep a close relationship between your child and share thoughts and feelings amongst each other.
- Joy and Anger
- Start QMC at age 5
6 to 9 years old
- To learn Thinking-skill in the early period
- Every details should be noted down.
- Thinking-skill in this stage is accumulated in the cerebellum for the next stage.
- The more Thinking-skill stored in this stage, the more progress there would be in the next stage.
- Every details should be noted down.
- Please don't misunderstand.
- You may think your child's memory is outstanding, "My child is gifted?".
- The special characteristic is temporary. Every children in infancy have the gift.
- Because of the lack of writing skill in infancy, an ability to complete the process of storing and moving images inside the brain had been cultivated in the process of human evolution.
- The gift eventually fades away with age.
- You must not use it to have your child memorise huge amount of knowledge.
- If you do that, the characteristic can't play an original roll.
- It means your child can't create Thinking-skill.
- You may think your child's memory is outstanding, "My child is gifted?".
9 to 12 years old
- To grasp the concept of Thinking-skill in the later period.
- In this period, Thinking gradually changes from "Detailed" to "Abstract".
- Take your time. "Abstract" is easier than "Detailed".
- This change should be done very slowly and spontaneously.
- In this period, Thinking gradually changes from "Detailed" to "Abstract".
- To gain the ability of decision-making
- It must be based on own emotions.
- Ultimately emotions will drive the decision.
- For example, after we think something based on logic, we often feel "it doesn't seem quite right". Final decision-making is taken into account.
- Therefore healthy emotions are really important.
- That is why games and TV are forbidden.
- It must be based on own emotions.
- 12 years old is the deadline for creating Thinking-skill.
- At the end of Y6, your child is sure to:
- have Smile, Smart, Strong and Slow.
- have decent Thinking-skill.
- be ready to chase his/her dream.
- At the end of Y6, your child is sure to:
Lastly I give you my favourite phrase
